Mission

Piedmont Connect is a collaborative community organization supporting resident initiatives and city efforts to build a sustainable future. Our work includes education, advocacy, and events.

Origins

Sustainable Piedmont Connect was founded in 2009 by Piedmont residents and teachers, Heather Clapp, Stella Kennedy, Margaret Ovenden, Terry Smith, and John White. The founders aimed to spread knowledge about sustainability solutions.

On April 27, 2010, “All Piedmonters, young and old, were invited to the first meeting of Piedmont CONNECT, a new community group dedicated to building a more environmentally sustainable future right here in Piedmont.” READ MORE

The name Piedmont Connect was chosen to reflect the progress on big, intersectional, systemic environmental problems that can be achieved by connecting people within and beyond Piedmont, inspiring and empowering them to make changes within their direct control and to advocate for changes outside of their control.
